Indeed, a hearty welcome or "fàilte" to everybody who bears any of the above-mentioned names, the name of one of our septs like Fergie, Fergus, Ferries, Forgan, Forgie, Keddie, Kiddie, MacAdie, MacFergus, MacKeddie, MacKerras and MacKersey, or any other name. In short: a hearty welcome to everybody, related or not.
Although we do not represent the official Clan Fergus(s)on Society in any way nor are in any way endorsed by it, we do strongly recommend joining the Society, membership of which is open to all people having a legitimate interest in the Society's objectives as: reviving, conserving and promoting of the interests, sentiments and associations of the Clan; collecting and preserving of records and traditions relating to the history of the Clan; encouragement of Celtic education; and assisting Clanspeople in need.
Navigating this site is easy. The bluish grey (greyish blue?) navbar in the top header contains the links to our permanent pages, while the navigation options to the right take you to more ephemeral locations like external pages and blog threads. And if you still get stuck, the help in our Support Section will skilfully unstick you!Not only friends, also enemies (wide grin)

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
I refuse to be politically correct, so I shamelessly wish you all a Merry Christmas instead of “Happy Holidays” or, even worse, “Season Greetings”! Nobody is going to take away a lifelong tradition from me nor, as far as I can help it, from you (wide grin)!
The PC zombies of this world haven’t yet put their slimy little hands on the good old “Happy New Year”, so I needn’t “apologize” for that. Maybe next year. One never knows…

A case of bad manners
Any clan crest, including that of the Clan Fergus(s)on, is the personal property of the Clan Chief. Legislation as formulated by the Court of the Lord Lyon is pretty clear about this issue, and especially people who commercially manufacture Clan items and memorabilia should be aware of the laws, and respect them – even when outside Scotland. In short, nobody but the Clan Chief can claim ownership of and copyrights on the crest of his particular Clan – it’s his property, period.
Sadly it doesn’t always work that way, as the picture shows. Although Celtic Empire in Canada makes beautiful Celtic and Clan stuff that I can generally recommend them for, they are way out of line when claiming copyright on the Clan Fergusson crest. Even if this particular example was drawn by themselves, it’s still Sir Charles Fergusson who owns all rights to each and every version of his crest. No, it certainly isn’t premeditated theft, nor will Sir Charles lie awake about it even one second – but it sure is a prime example of extremely bad manners.

Advertising the Fergus(s)ons
Without a fair bit of online advertising one gets nowhere, nowadays. The internet is the marketplace of the 21st century, whether we like it or not. So I threw up three ads about our Fergus(s)on websites, in order to attract visitors, registered users and, hopefully, one or two new Clan Society members.
The first ad is for our new international Clannfhearghuis Network, which is intended to be a relaxed meeting place for us all.
The second ad takes people to this very Not the Clan Fergusson Society website that you’ve got on your screen right now.
The third ad carries its visitors straight to the Clan Fergus(s)on Society, home and haven of us all, in the hope that it will boost the membership a bit.
“But where do those ads appear?” you may now ask. That’s at Trafficswarm, a so-called “traffic exchange” where people do… eh… exchange traffic, or something like that. During my years on the internet I have been doing quite a bit of advertising there, and recently I took a “Pro” account that, although it costs money which makes my Scottish and my Dutch blood curdle, offers the possibility of placing many more ads than a free account does, enabling me to throw the above ads into the mix. If you happen to be interested in online advertising or being online advertised to, click the banner below and have a look.

Of course we’ve been worldwide all the time (us Fergus(s)ons have been spreading around the globe for centuries)… I mean that we’ve got a truly international network available now with all bells and whistles that one can remotely imagine. At The Clannfhearghuis Network you’ll find it very easy to create your own group or join existing ones, have your own forum or blog, post photos and videos, announce events, and much more. Due to the easy access and all the user-friendly interconnections you don’t need any discernable PC skills or internet knowledge. So: give it a go!
